Founded by Lucas Maloma · Sekhukhune, Limpopo
When outstanding fees threatened to end Lucas Maloma's studies, a couple he had sung for settled the debt. He graduated in 2005 — and never forgot what one act of generosity can do. The Maloma Foundation exists to be that couple for the next child.

Re aga bokamoso — we build tomorrow
The Maloma Foundation is the community arm of Lucas Maloma's ministry. It channels the goodwill around his music into practical help for the people of Sekhukhune and beyond: keeping learners in school, standing with families in hard seasons, opening doors for people living with disability, and giving young musicians the start Lucas himself was given.
We work small, close and accountable. Every rand donated through this site is recorded, receipted and reported, and every programme is run with local schools, churches and community leaders who know the need first-hand.
School fees, uniforms, stationery and bursary top-ups so that no learner in our community is sent home for money.
Practical support for households in crisis — food parcels, bereavement support and help navigating grants and services.
Assistive devices, accessible worship and community events, and advocacy so people living with disability are seen, included and celebrated.
Music opened every door in Lucas's life. We put instruments, coaching and stage time into the hands of rural young people.
Why the Foundation exists
Lucas Maloma grew up in Strydkraal, Ga Masha, in Sekhukhune, Limpopo. His father passed away in 1984, and as a boy he sang at weddings, churches and schools to help support his unemployed mother.
Music got him to the University of Limpopo — and when outstanding fees threatened to stop him in his final year, a couple who had heard him sing quietly settled the debt. He graduated with his B.Com in 2005. That single act of kindness is the seed of everything the Foundation does.
Today Lucas is one of South Africa's most-loved Sepedi gospel voices, with live albums recorded at the State Theatre and Atterbury Theatre and millions of streams. He founded The Maloma Foundation in 2026 so that the reach of the music could become reach into real lives — starting with the community that raised him.
R1 500 keeps one learner in class for a year — fees, shoes, uniform and stationery. Our goal is 100 learners for the January 2027 school year.
Sponsor seats at Praise Revival Live Recording V2 (31 Oct 2026, Pretoria State Theatre) for learners, gogos and persons with disability who could never afford a ticket.
